More than 1,000 seniors enjoy picnic at Falwell farm

May 6, 2013 : Liberty University News Service

The sixth annual Senior Picnic was held on Saturday, May 4, at the Bedford County farm of Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. and his wife, Becki.

An estimated 1,200 seniors attended the four-hour event with the theme of “Tiki.” Students were treated to free Hawaiian-themed food, free T-shirts, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, games and prizes, mini-golf, funnel cakes, a surf simulator, Ferris wheel rides, and a fireworks display.

Students also had the opportunity to tour the Falwells’ home.

Senior Camille Piccirillo said this has been one of her favorite events at Liberty.

“I don’t know of any other school where the Chancellor personally opens up his home for a thousand seniors to come to. I had a ton of fun playing games and going on rides. The Falwells’ hospitality was incredible,” she said.

The event was organized by Liberty’s Student Activities team.

"The Senior Picnic provides a great way to congratulate graduating seniors on all of their hard work,” said Chris Misiano, director of Campus Recreation. “Student Activities loves bringing students together, and this event is a great way to cap off the year."
