Community invited to ‘Christmas at Hancock’ on Friday

Families in the Lynchburg area are invited to join the Liberty University family at a special event to celebrate the season on Friday, Dec. 14, from 6–9 p.m. at the new Hancock Welcome Center.

“Christmas at Hancock” is open to all ages. Guests will enjoy hot cocoa, apple cider, and treats while decorating Christmas cookies and watching Christmas movies. Carolers will provide wonderful holiday melodies and families can take carriage rides around campus and have their pictures taken with Santa Claus.

The Welcome Center opened this semester, kicking off a major campus transformation. The three-level, 33,000-square-foot Jeffersonian-style building was named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Sydney Hancock and provides potential students and their families a comfortable place to meet with Admissions and Financial Aid representatives and learn about other campus services. It features the latest technology, with touchscreen monitors and interactive photo centers to enhance the visitor experience.

The main floor features a banquet-style hall that is used for Friendly Fridays and other campus functions. The bottom floor has a movie theater, a kiosk for snapping photos, and a comfortable seating area for students and guests to relax.

Visitors can also walk out onto a beautiful back patio with seating to enjoy a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
