Falwell, Barber to appear on CNBC Sports show tonight

Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr., and Director of Athletics Jeff Barber will be the featured guests on tonight’s CNBC Sports: Game On show. The program will air on the NBC Sports Channel at 11:30 p.m. (EST).

Falwell and Barber will discuss Liberty’s efforts to find NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conference affiliation for its 20-team athletics program.

CNBC Sports airs on many cable networks around the country, along with satellite providers Dish Network (Channel 159) and DirecTV (Channel 220).

CNBC Sports became interested in Liberty’s conference affiliation story following a feature story by the New York Times in the Sunday edition on Nov. 11 (“In Virginia’s Hills, a Football Crusade“).

Falwell announced Liberty’s FBS intentions during Liberty’s 39th commencement ceremony in front of a record-setting graduation crowd at Williams Stadium on May 12, 2012.

Liberty has fielded an NCAA Division I athletics program since Sept. 1, 1988 and the Flames have been a member of the Big South Conference since the 1991-92 athletics season.

Since joining the Big South, Liberty has won 116 conference titles, been awarded the Big South’s Sasser Cup all-sports trophy a conference-record 10 times and had six NCAA Division I individual national champions.

  • Locally the show can also be viewed on Shentel Digital or Cable Card Channel 123 and Comcast Digital or Cable Card Channel 727.
