Students celebrate the season at dining hall’s fall festival

As the brisk autumn air falls on Liberty Mountain and the leaves begin changing colors, students celebrated the new season with excitement at the Fall Harvest Festival at Reber-Thomas Dining Hall Wednesday night.

During normal dining hours, Sodexo, Liberty’s dining services provider, offered students fall-themed foods and various activities, including a make-your-own caramel apple station, a pumpkin carving contest, a photo booth with complimentary flip books, and a scavenger hunt, all to the fun beats of the live band The Ruckus.

Local farmers offered samples of hot apple cider, fresh picked apples, and milk from a creamery, giving students a chance to interact with them to learn about environmental sustainability.

Students also entered to win prizes, including Scaremare tickets, 50 meal points and a $50 Visa Gift Card.

“I love that they put on events like this for us, with all the themed food and decorations everywhere,” said senior Patrice Kearney. “The harvest is my favorite time of year with so many fun activities. This was a perfect way to celebrate.”

Liberty students will get another chance to celebrate the season, but this time outdoors at the upcoming Fall Festival sponsored by Liberty’s Student Activities office on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Liberty’s Equestrian Center. The event will feature hay rides, horseback riding, pumpkin painting, face painting, cornhole, horseshoes, hot apple cider, and live music.
