Scholarship seminar open to community

October 4, 2012 : Liberty University News Service

Liberty University’s Student Advocate Office will be holding a Scholarship Search 101 Seminar Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Hancock Welcome Center theater for any prospective college students in Central Virginia.

The seminar is designed to give students, parents, and educators the opportunity to learn about scholarship availability and speak with a team of education professionals about techniques for securing scholarships.

“We recognize that the local community can benefit from this information, and so we decided to deliver this scholarship information primarily to the general public,” said Dr. Larry Hoezee, executive director of Resident Enrollment Management.

The seminar will help students find outside scholarships to apply for, using personal identifiers such as family history, talents, military status, ethnicity, and religion.

The Student Advocate Office has offered more than 80 of these sessions since 2007 and students have earned nearly $1 million in outside scholarships.
