Fall semester classes may not start for two weeks, but already resident assistants are preparing to meet their students’ needs.
Under the Office of Student Leadership, resident assistants (or RAs) are responsible for pastoral-like leadership for the dorms in the areas of discipline, discipleship and general oversight of residential students. This year, with a record number of students planning to live on campus, 221 RAs — all Liberty students themselves — have been called to the task.
They will be serving 6,350 students in dorms on Main and East campuses and another 280 students at the newly acquired Lynchburg Inn and Conference Center three miles away.
The RAs returned to campus Aug. 3 and are participating in orientation and training sessions for the next two weeks. Classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 18.
The Office of Student Leadership will also be welcoming spiritual life directors and prayer leaders back to campus at the end of the week.
