Sounds of Liberty performs at March for Life rally in Washington, D.C.
The Sounds of Liberty ministry team from Liberty University performed during the March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Jan. 22, with more than 300,000 in attendance. The annual pro-life rally began in 1974, with approximately 20,000 people. Liberty University has been involved with the March for 36 years.
Over the years, Sounds of Liberty has participated in the rally, singing many different songs, including patriotic songs and songs with religious themes. Sounds of Liberty also attended the Rose Dinner, a banquet for sponsors and patrons of the event. March for Life hosts supporters from a wide variety of denominations. The theme for this year’s rally was, “REMEMBER, the Life Principles mean ‘Equal Care’ with No Exceptions!”
The late Dr. Jerry Falwell supported this event and was involved many times with the March. He founded the Liberty Godparent Home, which provides young pregnant women, who may be targeted by Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice organizations, with an alternative. This home supports his anti-abortion stance, and is still running strong today, after 26 years.
