Press conference explains possible FBS athletics move

Liberty University held a press conference on Monday to further explain the results of the feasibility study conducted over the course of the last six months and Liberty’s intentions to move to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level.

The press conference was held on the club level of the Williams Stadium tower.

Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr., fielded questions from Liberty staff, media and fans, along with Jeff Barber, athletics director, Bill Carr of Carr Sports Consulting, LLC, and Neal Askew, Liberty’s Executive Vice President.

For the first time, Flames fans had a chance to watch the press conference live through the Liberty Channel and Liberty’s new mobile app, Liberty Today.

Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr., made the initial announcement during Liberty’s 39th Commencement on Saturday for the school to seek NCAA Division I FBS conference affiliation for its 20-team athletics program.

Liberty has not yet been invited to join an FBS conference, but when they do, it was announced that Liberty will be prepared to make that decision within 48 hours.
