Men’s Hockey takes victory over Duquesne

Friday Feb. 6: Duquesne University 1 – Liberty University 8
Duquesne managed to score the first goal of the game 8 minutes in, but that was all they managed to put forward positively in the entire game. Liberty scored 8 unanswered goals to rebound. It started with a goal scored on a penalty shot by Joe Smith. Mike Morrison and Jonathan Chung both scored goals in the second period, but the third period belonged to Adam Docksteader. Hats flew onto the ice as he scored his third goal of the game with just over a minute left in the period. Josh Tucker and Smith also scored in the third period. Ryan Walter had the most hits with 6 and Docksteader led the team in shots with 7. Finally, goalie, Colin Way made 27 saves on 28 shots.

Saturday, Feb. 7: Duquesne University 3 – Liberty University 7
Duquesne took a 1-0 lead just 45 seconds into the game, but again they failed to hold the lead. Liberty scored three times in the first period with goals by Dave Semenyna, Zac Bauman, and Kyle Dodgson (who also had three assists in the night). Josh Aiher, Joe Smith, and Ryan Walter all scored in the second for the Flames as they extended their lead to 6-2. Bauman then put the game away with his second goal of the game, this time on the powerplay. Colin Way faced a whopping 51 shots in net and stopped 48 of them. Bauman’s 7 hits led the team, and Semenyna had the most shots with 8. Additionally, Jonathan Chung had 3 assists and Hunter Tweed had 2.
