Kinfe siblings visit Liberty University

he Kinfe siblings from Ethiopia were welcomed as guests of honor at Liberty University’s Wednesday convocation. Aschalew, 17, Genet, 15 and Yesalemush, 14 were adopted last year after Liberty students raised more than $80,000 during last year’s Spiritual Emphasis Week to fund their adoption.

The Wolfe family (Randy, Kathy, Kristin, Brad and Bonny), who adopted the three orphans, stood beside them on stage as the crowd of Liberty students, faculty and staff gave them a standing ovation.

“There are no words, as I look at you students, but thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” mother Kathy Wolfe said.

“It’s wonderful to see the difference this university can make in the lives of three people,” Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. said.

A video chronicling the adoption story was shown, featuring an interview with evangelist David Nasser, who first challenged students to give during last year’s Spiritual Emphasis Week.

The full story of their adoption, along with the video, can be viewed online in the February/March issue of the Liberty Journal.
