‘Elephant Room’ simulcast will feature leading pastors

Liberty University is sponsoring a simulcast this week featuring some of the country’s most influential pastors discussing controversial topics in the ministry.

Pastors T.D. Jakes, Mark Driscoll, James MacDonald, Steven Furtick, Crawford Loritts, Wayne Cordeiro, and Jack Graham will present Elephant Room: Round 2 on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows, Ill. Liberty’s School of Religion is hosting the largest of 70 simulcasts across the country, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Bruner Hall and Pate Chapel at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Topics range from dealing with diversity in the church, to what to do when church staff members fail morally, to differences in denominations and presentations of the gospel.

Travis Doucette, a music and worship studies instructor and Liberty’s simulcast site coordinator, said Elephant Room 2 is “unity on display” for the church.

“It’s not a debate but it is an open, honest discussion on pertinent things that matter in ministry. Truth is, you’re going to talk about these issues either way. Why not observe men doing it the right way, the biblical way, talking to their brothers of differing opinion face-to-face?” Doucette said.

More than 400 students and members of the community are expected to attend. They will have the opportunity to interact with the pastors and each other by texting questions in live Q&A and round-table discussions.

Tickets are $20. For more details and to register for the event, click here.
