Kyle Maynard to speak at School of Business

Liberty University’s Business School will host inspirational athlete, author and young entrepreneur Kyle Maynard on Friday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. in Arthur S. DeMoss Learning Center Room 1113-1114.

Maynard, 25, was born with congenital amputation that left him with arms ending at his elbows and legs that end at his knees. He has been interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, ABC 20/20, Good Morning America and The CBS Early Show and has made the New York Times best seller list for his book “No Excuses.”

At 11 years old, Maynard began wrestling at his school. After much determination he excelled in the sport, winning 36 varsity matches his senior year of high school. He holds national titles in weightlifting competitions and has been given numerous national awards for his achievements.

He can also type up to 50 words per minute, eat without any outside help and drive a car. Currently he owns and operates a fitness center, No Excuses Cross Fit, in Georgia.

Business School Dean Scott Hicks arranged Maynard’s visit because he believes the students will benefit from Maynard’s life story.

“Here is a young man of God who has turned what people view as disabilities into strengths with excellence,” Hicks said. “I am really thinking that he is going to come in and inspire our students to have no excuses.”
