Liberty University’s financial literacy program makes top 50 list, alongside Duke, Harvard, Yale, and others

The Center for Financial Literacy, one of three Centers for Excellence, is housed in Liberty University’s School of Business.

After researching hundreds of financial literacy programs at colleges and universities, LendEDU named Liberty University’s program in the top 50, alongside institutions such as Duke, Harvard, and Yale.

LendEDU’s methodology evaluates three categories: the number of workshops and resources available, access to one-on-one financial consultation, and the number of incentivizing programs available.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of the top 50 schools for financial literacy,” said Dr. Stacie Rhodes, executive director of the Center for Financial Literacy (CFL), one of three Centers for Excellence in the School of Business. “This recognition became a reality because of our partnership with the Ron Blue team, the Financial Aid Office, and the group of individuals on campus that have worked hard to provide financial education to all university constituents.”

The CFL’s mission is to serve as the foremost leader in biblical financial stewardship.

With over 2,000 Bible verses addressing money, Rhodes said financial literacy “means a lot more to God than we think. If we take it out of Sunday school and academia and apply it practically, it could radically change our lives.”

Dr. Stacie Rhodes is the director of the Center for Financial Literacy.

The CFL offers training for students and members of the Lynchburg community. The center’s curriculum on biblically based financial principles is also embedded in all of Liberty’s residential undergraduate programs.

“Because of buy-in from the top down, we have had successful engagement through academic integration, proprietary financial literacy courses, workshops, guest lectures, one-one-one coaching, and other live events,” Rhodes said. “In the two years of existence, we estimate approximately 70,000 students have been introduced to the simplistic Ron Blue Four H tool that teaches foundational financial principles.”

Requests for CFL workshops, events, and one-on-one coaching are available on the center’s website.

“Stacie Rhodes has the Liberty spirit and exemplifies what it means to Train Champion for Christin the world of business,” said Dr. Dave Brat, dean of the School of Business. “Stacie and the entire Liberty team have shown that their time, treasure, and hearts are aligned with God’s word, and they have inspired our students and all of us to examine our own investments.”

The School of Business offers three unique financial planning degrees: Finance (M.S.): Financial Planning, Business Administration (B.S.): Financial Planning, and an online Certificate in Financial Planning.
