Media personality, music industry vet among upcoming Convocation guests

Conservative political pundit Ben Shapiro and Liberty University alumnus Robbie Hiner, a music industry executive, will join influential pastor Brad Powell to round out Liberty’s Convocation guest lineup for next week.

Monday, April 23:

Brad Powell, lead pastor of NorthRidge Church in Plymouth, Mich., and the author of “Change Your Church for Good” will challenge students to start the week. NorthRidge Church has been named the Midwest’s “Fastest Growing Church” and “One of the Top 50 Most Influential Churches” in America.

Wednesday, April 25:

Ben Shapiro will bring his no-nonsense brand of political commentary to the Convocation stage for the first time thanks to Young Americans for Freedom. The editor-in-chief and founder of The Daily Wire, Shapiro is a columnist, author, radio talk show host, lawyer, and host of a daily political podcast “The Ben Shapiro Show.” At age 17 Shapiro became the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the U.S. when he was hired by Creators Syndicate. Shapiro has authored seven books, including the New York Times best-seller “Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America” (Simon & Schuster, 2012).

Friday, April 27:

Returning to his alma mater, Robbie Hiner will bring with him decades of experience in the recording industry. Hiner is the vice president of Alliant Music Group and was a founding tenor of the Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet, which was formed by Liberty’s late founder Dr. Jerry Falwell in 2000. The quartet won a Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Horizon Group in 2001.

A 10-day Convocation schedule is announced each Monday.
