Four Liberty University student-athletes earned the Big South Conference’s prestigious George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence.

The award is given annually to Big South Conference student-athletes who attain the highest GPA during their college careers. Each recipient this year attained a 4.0 GPA for their entire undergraduate collegiate careers.

Liberty student-athletes received four of the eight awards. They are: Serena Barr (field hockey), Jessie Proehl (women’s cross country/track & field), Audrey Rabe (women’s track & field), and Hunter Winstead (football). All are recent graduates.

With this year’s honorees, Liberty leads the Big South with a record 24 student-athletes receiving the Christenberry Award.

The Big South Conference will formally present the awards on June 1 at The Marriott Resort in Hilton Head, S.C., as part of the league’s spring meetings and Hall of Fame Dinner.
