Men’s hockey team wins conference title in its first year in the ESCHL

Liberty University’s ACHA Division I men’s hockey team celebrates its 6-1 victory over Stony Brook University in Sunday’s ESCHL tournament final at the University of New Hampshire’s Boss Arena.

Liberty University’s ACHA Division I men’s hockey team peaked at the right time for Sunday afternoon’s Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL) tournament championship game, a 6-1 triumph over top-seeded, four-time defending ESCHL champion Stony Brook (25-10, ranked 12th in the ACHA DI poll) at Rhode Island’s Boss Arena.

The second-seeded Flames (29-12) stretched their winning streak to 10 games and captured the ESCHL crown in their inaugural season in the conference.

Liberty has qualified for the March 9-14 ACHA DI National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, for the ninth time in 11 seasons. As the No. 16 seed, the Flames will face 17th-seeded Colorado State in the opening round.
