Snowflex photo featured on National Geographic’s website
A photo of Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre is prominently featured on National Geographic’s website in the America’s Best Adventure Towns section.
The photo was taken by Becki Falwell, Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.’s wife, in 2009 and showcases student Luke Fosse doing a backflip on a snowboard at the year-round ski slope that opened in August 2009. The photo was the cover shot for the fall edition of the Liberty Journal last year.
The National Geographic site names Lynchburg, Va., as one of the top 100 cities in the country for outdoor adventure. It is just one of two cities in Virginia on the list. The other is Charlottesville, an hour north of Lynchburg.
“On the James River in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the vibrant community of Lynchburg's recreational options are plenty,” the site says about Lynchburg.
The ski slope, located on the Liberty University campus, is the first of its kind in the United States.
