Liberty featured as top university on Instagram

Liberty University has been recognized as the No. 1 university on Instagram, according to a digital strategy article highlighting “15 Universities That Are Nailing it on Instagram.” The post was compiled by eCity Interactive, an award-winning digital agency.

The article featured Liberty ahead of other major universities like Colorado State University (No. 2), Arizona State University (No. 3), Duke University (No. 4), West Virginia University (No. 6), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (No. 7), Penn State University (No. 8), and the University of Virginia (No. 13).

Liberty was celebrated for using the photo- and video-sharing platform to “focus on people.”

“They are photos that anyone can relate to,” the article explained. “They inspire school spirit. Focusing on human shots as well as campus photos personalizes your campus and connects you to your students.”

The university has 51,500 followers on Instagram and typically receives an average of 2,000-3,000 likes per photo. Liberty has over 7,000 views on its most recent videos.

Liberty, the world’s largest Christian university, strives to utilize social media in order to connect its community of students, both on campus and online, as well as its faculty, staff, prospective students, parents, alumni, and fans around the world. Liberty has more than 90,000 students in its online education program. A variety of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, and LinkedIn, offer ways to stay digitally in tune with the university.

In 2013, Liberty was a finalist for a Shorty Award for best college in social media. In 2014, Liberty was ranked among the most influential and the most engaged universities on social media.
