Liberty to participate in Virginia Private College Week, July 25-30

Liberty University will welcome prospective college students and their families as part of Virginia Private College Week, July 25-30.

Liberty University will welcome prospective college students and their families as part of  Virginia Private College Week, July 25-30.

Liberty will be offering campus tours and information sessions on admissions, financial aid, and academic programs throughout the week. Daily tours will be held at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., starting at the Hancock Welcome Center. Guests may also attend a special scholarships session.

This is the eighth year that Liberty has participated in the program, which is sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV). The program emphasizes the affordability and quality of a private college education. During the week, Virginia residents who are rising high school juniors and seniors, or prospective transfer students, are encouraged to visit at least three participating institutions and will receive three application fee waivers for those schools. In addition, students visiting at least three institutions will also be eligible for a drawing for a $500 Amazon gift card.

“This is a great opportunity for students to visit schools in Virginia and learn about our academic programs as well as exciting campus life activities,” said Ed Parker, associate director of the Visitors Center.

He said that over the years he has seen more Virginia residents taking advantage of this week, but he has also seen an increase from neighboring states.

“This is a time to ask all the questions you have to help you navigate the college selection process, and a time to see firsthand what college life is like at LU,” Parker said. “It is one of the biggest decisions a student and parent will make, and we are here to provide all the resources to help them make that decision.”

While registration is not required for Virginia Private College Week, those interested are asked to call (434) 582-2064 or email visitorscenter@liberty.edu for the program schedule. Participants are encouraged to use #VPCW to share their experience on social media.

Liberty also offers weekly events throughout the year, including My Liberty Monday and Friendly Friday. These events are designed to give prospective students and their families key information about life at Liberty through tours of its growing campus, including academic, recreational, and athletic facilities. Guests will also hear from faculty as well as admissions and financial aid personnel.  Additionally, Liberty hosts College For A Weekend twice a semester, which provides high school juniors, seniors, and transfer students the opportunity to experience life as a college student.
