Liberty asks for prayers for alumna, husband killed in car crash

Kayla and Daniel Amos on their wedding day.

Liberty University is asking for prayers for the families of alumna Kayla (Cosner) Amos (’15) and her husband, Daniel, who both died after a car crash in Edgewater, Md., on Sunday while out celebrating six months of marriage and Valentine’s Day.

Daniel Amos was pronounced dead at the scene and Kayla Amos died in the hospital early Monday morning, according to news reports. Kayla was 20 and Daniel was 21.

Kayla Amos graduated from Liberty with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Entrepreneurship last summer. She began her studies on Liberty’s campus and completed her degree through its online education program.

The couple was actively involved in their church, Chesapeake Church, in Huntingtown, Md. She volunteered with the hospitality team, and he was a member of the worship team.

Church members describe them as soul mates who were wildly in love and passionate about their faith, according to news reports.

“The heartache of this loss is compounded not only by Dan and Kayla’s youth … but also by the fact that they were married for only six months,” Robert Hahn, senior pastor of Chesapeake Church wrote in a Facebook post. “Knowing that both Dan and Kayla have given their lives to Christ assures us that not only does Christ live in them, but those who live in Christ will see them both again. A promise that waits for us in glory.”

Chesapeake Church will post service details on its Facebook page this evening.
