With a record crowd expected for Donald Trump’s appearance at Liberty University on Jan. 18, the university has released guidelines for all those planning to attend.
The Convocation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in the Vines Center. It is open to the public and free of charge.
With the heightened security for his visit — all guests must pass through metal detectors — and with low temperatures expected, additional measures have been taken by the university to reduce the time it will take to enter the arena.
To expedite the process, there will be no bags of any kind permitted in the arena, including backpacks. A list of items prohibited by the Secret Service, including weapons, can be found at www.liberty.edu/restricteditems.
The university has arranged for additional bleacher seating to accommodate local residents who wish to attend. Parking will be available in the university’s parking garage along Regents Parkway (enter campus through the Wards Road tunnel, turn right, and parking garage will be on your left after the softball stadium). Signs will direct the public to an entrance near DeMoss Hall where lines will form for the event. Parking for the public will also be available in the Speakman lot, behind the Liberty University Bookstore. Guests are encouraged to arrive early.
All students should attend Convocation as usual and will use the same entrance near DeMoss Hall (follow signs).
