For the first time in Liberty University Athletics Department history, three senior student-athletes have earned the prestigious George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence, given annually to the Big South Conference (BSC) male and female student-athletes who attain the highest GPAs during their college careers.
Matt Pennington, Megan Robinson, and Brittany Yang will all be awarded the honor on May 28, raising the total number of Liberty recipients of the award to 18 all-time, most among BSC member schools.
Pennington, a member of the baseball team, will finish his collegiate career with a 4.0 GPA while majoring in theology and apologetics. Robinson, competing for the softball program, holds a 4.0 as a youth ministries major. Yang, who helped the women’s tennis team to a 19-win season, maintains a 4.0 GPA while majoring in graphic design.
