Former Flames pitcher Lambert signs with Texas Rangers

Former Liberty Flames pitcher Trey Lambert has signed a free agent contract with the Texas Rangers organization. The 23-year-old right-hander reported to the team’s spring training facility in Surprise, Ariz., on Saturday.

After leading the Big South Conference in wins in 2014, Lambert was named the 2014 Big South Pitcher of the Year and an all-conference first team member in his final season in a Liberty uniform. He finished his career as the program’s all-time leader with a 2.79 ERA and ranked tied for eighth in wins with a 21-6 record over three seasons with the Flames.
