Christiansen races to women’s title at Big South Championships

Big South Cross Country Championships women's champion Jacy Christiansen.
Lady Flames senior Jacy Christiansen shattered the 5K course record at Gardner-Webb by 21 seconds, winning the Big South Championships in 17 minutes, 37.64 seconds.

Liberty senior Jacy Christiansen earned Big South Conference Women’s Runner of the Year honors after capturing the 5K individual crown at Saturday morning’s 2014 Big South Cross Country Championships. She helped the Lady Flames finish second to High Point on a cold, windy, rainy morning at Gardner-Webb University.

Christiansen was one of four Lady Flames to place in the top 20 overall, as Liberty totaled 73 team points for its 11th straight top-two finish at this meet.

On the men’s side, freshman Titus Koech finished fourth and was one of seven Flames in the top 22 in the 8K race.
