Record number of students on campus this semester

Liberty University students pass in and out of DeMoss Hall.More than 13,800 students are studying on Liberty University’s campus this semester, the most ever to date. This surge in enrollment includes more than 7,700 students living on campus, also a record figure. Nearly every student housing facility is at capacity.

Liberty is the nation’s fifth largest university, the largest private, nonprofit university in the country, the largest university in Virginia, and the largest Christian university in the world.

A major contributor to this growth is the new nine-story high-rise residence hall, which provides more than 1,200 beds for students.

“It has been so rewarding over the years to watch God move in the lives of students as they lived on, and moved through, Liberty’s campus,” said Dr. Mark Hine, senior vice president for Student Affairs. “Lifetime friendships are formed and eternal decisions are made on a regular basis. Additional housing for students increases that impact and continues to fulfill the dream of (Liberty founder) Dr. Jerry Falwell. We are truly blessed as a university family.”

As Liberty continues its $500 million campus rebuilding, which includes more residence halls as well as new and upgraded academic, recreation, and athletic facilities, the university expects to reach a residential population of 16,000 by 2020.
