Symposium will tackle issues affecting area’s senior population

Liberty University’s Jerry Falwell Library

Liberty University’s Jerry Falwell Library and the Center for Professional & Continuing Education will host a Senior Symposium in the Terrace Level Conference Room of the library on July 28-Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. The theme for the event is “Practical Applications for Senior Living,” and will include presentations on technological literacy, caregivers of family members, reverse mortgages, estate planning, and the U.S. in biblical prophecy. (View a schedule of speakers below.)

Refreshments will be served each day, except on Friday, Aug. 1, when attendees will have the opportunity to visit either the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford or the Museum of the Confederacy in Appomattox. Participants will return for lunch at noon followed by a tour of the new Runk and Pratt Liberty Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center on Liberty Mountain.

“The Senior Symposium is a wonderful opportunity for local seniors to hear engaging speakers on topics relevant to them, to explore local historical sites, and to meet other seniors from the community,” said Rachel Schwedt, the library’s associate dean of Research and Customer Service.”

The symposium is a free event. For more information, call (434) 592-4718.
