Senior Art Exhibit opens in Liberty University Art Gallery

Liberty University’s Department of Studio & Digital Arts (SADA) opened its Fall 2013 Senior Art Exhibit, “Infuse,” Thursday night in the Liberty Art Gallery with an artist’s reception.

The exhibit, which is on display until Wednesday, Dec. 11, showcases the work of 11 students. Works include paintings, graphite drawings, sculpture, mixed media, and photography.

“One of the main reasons for the exhibit is to allow students to showcase the work they’ve done throughout the duration of their program here at Liberty,” said Todd Smith, SADA chair. “The program stresses that their work is done to give glory to God and reflect His creativity, and that’s something we want them to take into the field. We want them to go into the fields of art and design and to act as salt and light in that particular field, and this is the first chance for them to do that.”

Dr. Norman Mintle, dean of the School of Communication & Creative Arts, added, “Our job is to nurture these artists and their gifts during their time here at Liberty. Understanding that it’s God’s Holy Spirit who indwells them and fills them with inspiration and creativity is invaluable. We’re proud of our seniors and their work.”
