Men's cross country team races to Big South title

Liberty University's men's cross country wins ninth Big South Conference title.The Liberty men's cross country team won its ninth consecutive conference title on Saturday at the 2013 Big South Cross Country Championships in Buena Vista, Va. Seven Flames finished inside the top 17, enabling Liberty to hold off High Point University by a 40-48 score. This is the Flames' 15th conference crown.

Coach Brant Tolsma was tabbed Big South Men's Coach of the Year and Caleb Edmonds, a senior biology/pre-med major, was voted Big South Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Lady Flames came in second place at the championships, behind Coastal Carolina.

The top seven runners from Liberty's men's and women's squads will compete in the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships at Virginia's Panorama Farms on Nov. 15, attempting to qualify for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.
