Enrollment in Liberty University’s Distance Learning Program topped the 25,000 student mark for the first time on Tuesday.
Enrollment figures for the program were confirmed by LU Registrar Lawrence Shackleton in an e-mail to school officials.
Officially, the 25,000th student enrolled at about 9:15 a.m.
Liberty Christian Academy has announced it expects record numbers for the 2008-2009 school year. With about 2,000 students, the school will be at full capacity.
“We’ll be at maximum utilization of this facility,” said Todd Campo, superintendent.
Liberty University’s Distance Learning Program has been ranked among the nation’s elite.
LU ranked third in the second annual Online College Ranking by the Online Education Database released January 23.
When third-year Liberty University law students arrived for fall semester in August 2006, they attended an opening ceremony in which they touched a stone taken from Mt. Sinai, the peak where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God.
Liberty University School of Law has announced that 89 percent of its law graduates who took state bar exams nationwide passed them.
The 3-year-old LU law school graduated its first class in May.
