UPDATE: Big South Champion Liberty Baseball to face Clemson in NCAA regional Friday

UPDATE – 5/27/2013: The Big South Champion Liberty Flames will participate in the NCAA Columbia, S.C. Regional and will play the Clemson Tigers in their opening round game, Friday. Big South Baseball Championship MVP Ashton Perritt singled home the winning run in the top of the ninth, and then pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning, pushing Liberty Baseball, the No. 5 seed, past the No. 1 seed Campbell Camels, 2-1, in the conference’s title game, Saturday afternoon at the Liberty University Baseball Stadium.

With the win, the Flames, 34-27, claim the Big South Conference’s automatic bid to an NCAA Regional and their first conference crown since 2000. Liberty will find out their regional destination, when the NCAA Regionals bracket is announced, Monday at Noon on ESPNU.

Liberty advanced to the title game Friday night after winning its fourth consecutive game in the Big South Championships, defeating Coastal Carolina for the second time in six hours.
