A new club sport is coming to Liberty University that will test students’ physical strength, flexibility, agility and coor-dination. Beginning in January, the university is adding gymnastics to its list of club teams. Practices will be held every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Lynchburg Academy of Gymnastics & Power Tumbling located about three miles from LU on Leesville Road.

Liberty University fans who arrive early to Saturday’s football game against VMI in Lexington, Va., will be in for a special surprise. Vice President Dick Cheney will be making his third appearance to the VMI campus during the college’s Military Appreciation Day parade, taking place on the VMI Parade Ground at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.

Liberty University Head Football Coach Danny Rocco took the stage at Friday’s convocation, encouraging students to come out to Saturday’s home contest against the Lafayette Leopards.
“We need everybody in this facility today to be at that game tomorrow,” Rocco told a packed Vines Center.

Liberty University’s extensive trail system played host to its first ever mountain bike race on Saturday: Assault on Liberty Mountain. The event consisted of 125 bikers divided into three categories with skill levels ranging from expert to novice.

One week before its season opener with Oklahoma, the Liberty Flames hockey team took to the ice for its annual Blue and White game on Sept. 12. Fans in the LaHaye Ice Center witnessed a total of eight goals scored as returners Dave Semenyna and Jon Langabeer led the White team to a 6-2 victory.

Liberty University head football coach Danny Rocco fired up students at Friday’s convocation. Rocco shared his wishes for a sell-out crowd to come and support the LU Flames at their home opener against North Greenville at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
