Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre to open new tubing runs

Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, Liberty University’s year-round skiing, snowboarding, and tubing facility, will hold a grand opening for its four new tubing runs at a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is open to the public. Admission is a donation of four cans of food for one hour (or $8), or 20 cans of food for all day (or $20). The food will go to Gleaning for the World to support local food banks. There will also be bounce houses, laser tag, face painting and concessions.

Guests will have the chance to try out two new “beginner” runs at 80 feet long, with speeds reaching 15 miles per hour, or two “advanced” runs, at 325 feet and 375 feet long, with speeds up to 35 miles per hour (riders must be at least 36 inches tall or 5 years old for the advanced runs).

“These new tube runs add to the wide array of recreational opportunities Liberty University offers not only its students, but the community,” said Drew Sherwood, manager of LMSC. “To be able to enjoy year-round tubing, in addition to skiing and snowboarding, makes our facility a unique attraction for families.”

Liberty students will be on Fall Break during the event, he noted, so crowds will be lighter at this time.

Sherwood said Snowflex regularly sponsors community events and partners with local charitable organizations.

“It’s one way we can all impact our community, and meet some very real needs.”
