Liberty University hosts Civil War Seminar

Major motion pictures such as Glory, Gettysburg and Gods and Generals dramatically depict the Civil War’s most famous battles with historical accuracy and cinematic realism. This past weekend, Civil War enthusiasts had the chance to hear about the making of these classic films at Liberty University’s 13th annual Civil War Seminar, titled “The Reel Civil War: The Civil War in the Cinema.”

The weekend featured nationally renowned speakers, such as author Bruce Chadwick, producer and director Ron Maxwell and CBN anchorman Lee Webb.

It also included an antebellum dinner and luncheon, artifacts and memorabilia, Civil War items for sale, a movie poster exhibit and a period church service on Sunday morning with guest speaker the Rev. Alan Farley in the Worley Prayer Chapel.

Liberty University is home to the National Civil War Chaplains Museum.
