New fountain flows in front of DeMoss

Construction on the new fountain in front of Liberty University’s Arthur S. DeMoss Learning Center, the main academic building on campus, is nearing completion as workers put water in it for the first time last week.

The fountain was installed in honor of those donors who supported the expansion of DeMoss to a four-story building, completed in 2000, according to Director of Planning and Construction Charles Spence. He said the final stage of construction calls for adding the donors’ names to the fountain area.

The fountain, standing 19 feet tall and made of hand-carved marble from Italy, features three columns with water cascading from the tops of each. A cast-bronze eagle, Liberty’s mascot, perches atop the tallest column.
