Skillet to rock Liberty’s Winterfest 2008 music festival

An incredible blend of classic, progressive and alternative rock is invading the campus of Liberty University just days before the giant ball drops to ring in the New Year. Two-time Grammy nominee and Dove Award-winning rock band Skillet will take the stage on Dec. 30, rounding out an action-packed evening at Winterfest 2008, Liberty’s ever-popular music festival and winter retreat set for Dec. 30-Jan. 1.

Skillet’s meteoric rise up the Christian and mainstream rock charts began in 2004 with the release of “Collide,” the band’s debut project under Lava/Atlantic Records. Following the success of hit singles such as “Savior” and “Open Wounds,” the group produced Comatose in 2006. With tracks like “Rebirthing” and “Whispers in the Dark,” the album features a variety of old- and new-school elements mixed with hints of classical music. The band is currently working on an upcoming project, which is slated for release in 2009.

Other Winterfest artists scheduled to perform on the Vines Center stage include Jeremy Camp, Hawk Nelson, Disciple, Grits and Sanctus Real. Dynamic speakers Clayton King, David Nasser and the Rev. Eric Timm round out the bill.

Apart from seeing great performances, participants can also take advantage of everything LU has to offer, including basketball, ice skating and swimming.

Our all-inclusive event ticket — with bands, speakers and a free ice-skating session — is on sale for $80 if you reserve your spot before Dec. 1. Individual session tickets start at $15. To come chill with us at Winterfest, visit www.libertywinterfest.com or call (800) 662-5848.
