Liberty University offices compete in decorating contest

Several Liberty University administrative departments at Campus North displayed their Christmas spirit during a Christmas Decoration Contest Thursday.

Admissions Processing was the winner by unanimous decision. Workers welcomed the judges into their own version of Santa’s village, decorated in minute detail — from the North Pole Post Office to the Reindeer Stables.

Second place went to the Financial Aid department, where workers decked the halls with their individual styles to make a sprawling Christmas village, with everything from a Christmas bead shop to a children’s bookstore.

Within Financial Aid, which had several decorated offices, the judges chose some standout winners who went the extra mile:

• Michael Lewis wowed the judges by turning his cubicle into a Christmas Chapel, complete with a steeple and ringing bell.
• Pauline Alleyne got points for her intricately designed Winter Wonderland.
• Eileen Kurtz demonstrated a sense of humor with her Charlie Brown Christmas theme.
• Stacie Rose received an honorable mention for her unique Dallas Cowboys Christmas theme, right down to a Cowboys-themed Santa hat.

Creative Services earned third place and lived up to its name by decorating office space to resemble a family room, complete with a cozy fireplace and a hearth displaying “family photos” of the staff.

The Marketing department earned an honorable mention for originality and teamwork. They used project request forms, colorful Post-it notes and phone message slips to create a surprisingly festive Christmas display.

Rachel Macy of Resident Enrollment also received an honorable mention for her simple, but elegant, holiday décor.

The contest was sponsored by LU’s University Advancement office, who would like to thank all the offices that participated, including the Information Services Help Desk, Resident Enrollment, and the Call Center.
