Liberty Athletics earns Bill Bibb All-Sports Trophy in first year in ASUN

Crowning its inaugural season in the ASUN Conference, Liberty University was awarded the Bill Bibb Trophy at the ASUN’s annual awards banquet Wednesday night in Savannah, Ga., recognizing Liberty as the conference’s top overall athletics program for 2018-19.

This marks the 15th time in the past 22 years that Liberty Athletics has captured a conference All-Sports Award trophy, including 14 Sasser Cup titles during its 21-year membership in the Big South Conference that ended last year.

Liberty was also presented with the ASUN Conference’s Jesse Fletcher (Men’s All-Sports) and Sherman Day (Women’s All-Sports) Trophies, marking the third time in conference history a member institution has swept all three honors and the first time since Florida Gulf Coast University accomplished the feat in 2012-13.

“We are grateful to the ASUN membership for warmly welcoming Liberty into the conference,” Liberty Director of Athletics Ian McCaw said. “The level of competition in the ASUN is exceptional and we are blessed that our teams and student-athletes have thrived this year.”

Seven Flames and Lady Flames teams captured ASUN titles in the past year — men’s basketball (regular season and tournament), baseball (tournament), women’s tennis (regular season), men’s indoor track & field, women’s indoor track & field, men’s outdoor track & field, and women’s outdoor track & field.
