Liberty University’s men’s wrestling team, seeded first in the NCWA National Duals in Mesquite, Nev., accomplished an unprecedented feat over the weekend by becoming the first team in the tournament’s 11-year history to defend its national title. The Flames rallied from behind to upend second-seeded Apprentice School in Saturday night’s championship final to win their fourth NCWA National Duals tournament crown altogether, also a record.
Liberty trailed the Mid-Atlantic Conference rival Builders, 15-0, before winning seven of the final eight matches to pull away for a 28-18 triumph.
