Michael Vick, Katherine and Jay Wolf to speak in Convocation next week

Next week’s Convocation lineup at Liberty University will feature former NFL quarterback and current Fox Sports NFL analyst Michael Vick as well as inspirational authors Jay and Katherine Wolf.

Vick will speak in Convocation on Monday, Jan. 29. He will share his story and the lessons he learned on a journey that took him from being the highest paid player in the NFL to public humiliation after he pleaded guilty to illegal dogfighting. After serving 19 months in prison, Vick set out to change the narrative as he drew strength in his renewed relationship with God. From joining The Humane Society of the United States’ End Dogfighting campaign to addressing Congress to help pass the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, Vick’s story of forgiveness, redemption, and testimony is helping to impact change in at-risk communities around the country.

Jay and Katherine Wolf will be joining Convocation on Wednesday, Jan. 31. The couple are the authors of “Hope Heals: A True Story of Overwhelming Loss and an Overcoming Love.” The book documents how their lives were changed in 2008 after Katherine Wolf suffered a catastrophic brain stem stroke. Now, a decade later, the couple has leveraged their own experience of personal tragedy and loss into a calling to encourage those with “broken bodies, broken brains, and broken hearts.”

On Friday, Feb. 2, Convocation will not be held in the Vines Center as students will have the opportunity to attend an Alternative Convocation held by their current academic departments. Convocation will resume in the Vines Center on Monday, Feb. 5.

A 10-day Convocation schedule is announced each Monday.
