Figure ice skating competitors from colleges and universities along the East Coast came to Liberty University’s LaHaye Ice Center on Dec. 3 and 4 for the Eastern Sectional United States Figure Skating Association Intercollegiate Competitions.

More than 130 competitors participated in more than 30 events. Including Liberty, schools taking part in the competitions were Boston University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, University of Delaware, Merrimack College, College of New Jersey, New York University, Northeastern University, Robert Morris University, and Sacred Heart University.

“This competition was a big success thanks to all the support we received from various departments at LU,” said Liberty’s figure skating director Tatiana Gomez. “Because of the success of this event, Liberty University is now a name that will be recognized in the intercollegiate figure skating world. We hope to have the opportunity to host this event again next year with an even larger and stronger skating team to compete with.”
