Liberty ranked among best colleges for campus housing

Liberty University continues to make national ranking lists and was recently recognized among the 30 Best College Dorms in the U.S. The Street, a leading digital financial media company, ranked Liberty No. 12, based on its “spacious and comfortable” residence halls, complemented by a “solid A” campus dining experience.

Liberty outranked Harvard University (No. 24), Wheaton College-Illinois (21), and Stanford University (20) on the list that also included Yale University (5) and High Point University (4).

Liberty also ranked among the 2015 best campus housing options in the nation by Niche.

Residential life at Liberty has been given a boost recently, with the completion of two high-rise residence halls — Residential Commons I in Fall 2014, followed by Residential Commons II last fall. The two high-rise commons have over 1,000 beds each. These residence halls have apartment-style living, accommodating two people per room with a bathroom, microwave, and mini refrigerator in each room. Every floor also has laundry facilities and a common living area with comfortable seating and televisions capable of connecting to computers or game consoles. Residential Commons I also features a Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins. Liberty recently broke ground on a third high-rise with plans calling for a fourth as well.

This semester, Liberty welcomes the most students living on campus in university history (8,100), as well as its largest incoming class (over 3,900) and the highest residential student population (approximately 15,000 students) to date. (Read more about the incoming class.)

Liberty has also been recognized nationally for its efforts to provide a top-notch dining atmosphere. The Reber-Thomas Dining Hall received its second-consecutive No. 1 ranking on the BestColleges.com list of Best Dining Halls. Additionally, Liberty was ranked among the Top 10 Gluten Free Accommodating Colleges. Liberty recently added six new dining venues to its new Montview Student Union.

Last year, Liberty was recognized for its exceptional student life experience, ranking No. 8 for Safest Campus on the 2015 college rankings by Niche. The ranking considered crime statistics and more than 330,000 student opinions. Campuses with low alcohol and drug activity — like Liberty, which received an A-plus grade for drug safety — were found to provide “a safe and healthy environment for students.”
