Celebrate July 4 at Snowflex, Poplar Forest

Due to the current construction project at Liberty University’s Williams Stadium, there will be no Celebrate America event, Thomas Road Baptist Church’s annual celebration of America’s independence, on July 4.

In years past, Celebrate America offered carnival attractions, food, live music and more within the Williams Stadium, followed by a fireworks show. But don’t despair — there are other family-friendly activities to be held on Liberty’s campus and around the area.

Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest will offer live music, theatrical performances, crafts and activities suitable for every age from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 4. Admission is free for children under 16 years old, $5 for everyone else. Visit the event’s website for more information.

On campus, Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre will host Celebration on the Mountain from 2 p.m. to midnight July 4. The event will feature free slip and sliding, water games, bounce houses, food and the movies Up and The Blind Side. You’ll have a chance to see the area’s firework displays from the highest point in the city of Lynchburg.

Skiing and snowboarding will be offered at a special discounted price of $5 per hour (includes lift ticket and rentals).
