Williams Stadium workers treated to barbecue

An appreciation jobsite barbecue was held on Tuesday, June 15, for workers on the Williams Stadium expansion, the $16 million project now under way that will add 6,600 new seats and a new press box, luxury suites and banquet room.

Branch & Associates Inc. of Roanoke, Va., the general contractor, hosted the barbecue for the workers, and also invited several Liberty staff involved in the project, from planners to athletics, technical production, electrical and HVAC personnel.

The project officially launched in January.

Branch was responsible for renovations to Virginia Military Institute’s football stadium and an addition to the Roanoke Civic Center.

“Liberty University has not worked with Branch in the past, but we have watched the firm from a distance and have been impressed with the projects they have constructed around the state of Virginia,” Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. said in December, when the company was chosen. “We look forward to partnering with Branch to meet the target completion date [for Phase I] of Sept. 4, 2010.”
