Host of JCTV talk show helps launch new channel on campus

Liberty University is now offering students their own alternative Christian music and entertainment channel through JCTV, a Christian television network that is a subsidiary of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).

Brandon Crouch, host of JCTV’s hip news magazine show “Off The Record” addressed students at Friday’s convocation. He is the son of Paul Crouch Sr., co-founder, chairman and president of the TBN, the largest Christian television network in the U.S.

“JCTV is a Christian MTV; it’s your alternative. But more importantly, we’re moving forward, changing a generation for Christ,” Crouch said.

The new channel is available on the campus-wide IPTV system, which provides television through an on-campus computer connection.

Crouch commended LU for its quality leadership and the work of Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. among the university and community.

“You guys have amazing leadership. What an honor it is to be going to Liberty University. Chancellor Falwell and Dr. Falwell Sr. have created this university so that people like you can change your generation and can change the world for Christ,” he said.

JCTV includes a variety of Christian entertainment for students, including reality TV shows, music videos and talk shows such as “Off The Record,” which airs on IPTV on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m.

During his visit, Crouch also hosted an informal media & missions seminar where he shared more about his media ministry. He also recorded an “Off The Record” featuring Liberty University.

Liberty is always seeking to enhance the media available to students and this recent launch is another progressive move toward keeping students up-to-date and informed. Liberty also recently added Channel 71, which features information and promotional segments designed to welcome visitors to campus. The format provides not only useful information but video clips that offer visitors a glimpse of campus life, attractions and activities at LU.

  • Currently there are several local and novelty channels available on IPTV, including: The Liberty Channel; all local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates; and CNN, ESPN and ESPN2, Fox News, CW and Discovery. The main site includes a guide of what’s playing in real time and what programs are coming up next. There is also the capability of watching more than one channel at a time.
