The Liberty Flames are headed to the NCAA FCS Playoffs for the first time following Saturday’s 15-14 victory over No. 2/1 Coastal Carolina at Brooks Stadium.
With the win, Liberty and Coastal Carolina share the Big South Conference title with identical 4-1 league victories. The Flames claim the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs by virtue of their upset victory today.
This win marks Liberty’s first-ever win over a No. 1-ranked team in athletics department history.
The 24-team NCAA FCS playoff field will be announced during the Playoff Selection Show on Sunday at 11 a.m. on ESPNU.
