Education Doesn’t Have to Take a Backseat
Liberty University students and alumni bring influence and integrity to every corner of the professional world, and 18-year-old William Byron is no exception. The Liberty University Online Academy (LUOA) student and Charlotte, N.C., native has succeeded at every level of his racing career — being crowned 2013 U.S. Legend Car Young Lions Division National Champion, 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series North Carolina Rookie of the Year, and 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Champion. He looks to continue his success this year driving the No. 9 Liberty University Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Byron is not only passionate about his racing career, but he is also driven in his education and his faith. While he is the face of Liberty University — Byron’s primary sponsor — to racing fans across the country, he is also a student, currently taking classes through LUOA and Liberty’s online program. “I am proud to represent such a fine university,” he said. “Liberty provides a number of opportunities — both on campus and online — for those who are looking for higher education. I understand how important it is to balance education and my passion for racing, and that’s why this is the perfect partnership.”
