November 2013 Employee Newsletter

A Word from the President

Homecoming 2013 turned out to be one of our best ever at Liberty University, with nearly 19,000 in attendance at the football game and more than 5,000 alumni registered for Homecoming festivities. As alumni ourselves, Becki and I enjoyed all the activities and the chance to reunite with old friends.

This event was a year in the making and could not have been carried out on such a large scale without many of you who took special care to make this a memorable weekend. From the details of registration and check-in to the parade, football game, carnival, and all the activities around campus that our alumni had the chance to participate in, I am grateful for your efforts in making it all happen.

Many of our alumni attended Scaremare while they were here, one of our longest-held traditions. The Center for Youth Ministries takes this event to new levels each year. A crowd of more than 25,000 guests attended this year and more than 3,400 responded to the Gospel message. Congratulations to all who contributed to this success and helped change so many lives.

Our alumni were also excited to be able to witness our $500 million campus rebuilding phase in progress. The new library, residence halls, vehicular tunnels, and Center for Medical and Health Sciences were only in the planning stages during Homecoming last year. I kept hearing from them how amazed they were to see what has taken place here in such a short amount of time. They told me how proud they were to be called alumni of Liberty, a school that is now being recognized nationally as a world-class institution.

Thank you for welcoming our alumni and helping them to relive their fondest memories and to make new ones.

Becki and I hope to see you and your families on Nov. 16 for Employee Appreciation Day at Williams Stadium. Join us as the Flames take on Brevard College in the last home game of the season.

We also recognized our employees’ hard work this year with a bonus check in October. Liberty has made a conscious effort each year to offset the cost of living with an annual bonus. Our wage and compensation analysis that was launched two years ago continues across all departments, ensuring that we remain competitive with other businesses.

Your dedication to your job is being noticed. We appreciate all our faculty and staff who make Liberty the best place to work.

Employee Appreciation Day

You’ve done so much for Liberty; now let us do something special for you.

Employee Appreciation Day is Saturday, Nov. 16, and we want you and your family to join us for a full day of Flames Athletics.

Join us in Williams Stadium at 3:30 p.m. to cheer on the Liberty Flames Football team as they take on the Brevard Tornados! Since football is not complete without your favorite game day food, you will receive up to four $5 concession vouchers (only valid at Williams Stadium during the football game).

That evening, you are also invited to watch Flames Basketball take on Western Carolina in the Vines Center at 7:30 p.m. Your ticket for the football game is the same ticket that will grant you admission for the basketball game. Concession vouchers cannot be redeemed at the Vines Center.

In appreciation for all your hard work, we are providing employees, spouses, and their children with free tickets to the games.
