A Word from Chancellor Falwell

We ushered in a new academic year in a grand way last month, welcoming about 4,500 new students to campus during Welcome Week. Becki and I enjoyed the Chancellor’s Kickoff as always, meeting all the new faces and showing support for our football team. Student Activities held another spectacular Block Party, a huge hit with all of our students and a great way to kick off the semester. Spiritual Emphasis Week, featuring Clayton King in Convocation, started us off with the focus we all need to live each day for Christ.

I am grateful for all the departments that come together each year to extend that welcoming hand to our new students and guide them as they get settled into their new home here.

I look forward to what this year has in store for us. It will be a historic year, no doubt, as we open the doors of the Jerry Falwell Library, finish work on the new Center for Medical and Health Sciences, and witness other major projects of our campus rebuilding phase take shape. You will have a chance to hear from some inspiring speakers at Convocation and become involved in exciting outreach opportunities.

I am glad you are on this journey with us and may God continue to bless you in your faithful service.

Green Hall Transformation

While many offices have made their way to their new home at River Ridge Mall, many others are finding their way from other areas around campus to Green Hall. In order to make room for the chain of moves, construction has been underway to renovate the vacated sections of Green Hall to better fit the incoming departments’ needs, including the Bruckner Learning Center and Center for Academic Support and Advising Services (CASAS).

Team Liberty Finishing Strong

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Team Liberty come out for the Virginia 10 Miler on Sept. 28. Even if you're not participating, come out and support the runners and walkers as they make their way to the finish line.

If you are thinking about signing up for the Virginia 10 Miler, there is still time to register for FREE.

Don’t run?  No problem.  Join Team Liberty and sign up for the 4 mile walk!

Also, as the 100 Mile Challenge comes to a close, be sure to continue logging those final miles!

Liberty University Partners with Kirk Cameron

As Liberty University continues its mission of Training Champions for Christ, Kirk Cameron is also inspiring a new generation of young people to impact the culture. Cameron is using his skill and reputation as an actor and filmmaker to promote values that are the foundation of Liberty’s purpose and vision.

The 1980s television icon and faithful supporter of Liberty has come to campus on many occasions, including to speak at Convocation. Cameron has also worked with students from Liberty’s Cinematic Arts, Zaki Gordon Center to teach and support them in preparing for their future careers in filmmaking.

This fall, Liberty is partnering with Cameron for the premiere of his newest film, “Unstoppable.” A one-night showing will take place Tuesday, Sept. 24, and will be broadcast live from Liberty to more than 600 theaters nationwide. Many of Liberty’s cinematic arts students assisted with the film, which created valuable learning opportunities that will benefit them throughout their careers.
