Sphere Project

When: January 15-19, 2018

Where: JFL Scholars Lounge

The Sphere Project exists to improve the quality and accountability of humanitarian assistance in times of disaster or conflict. In this week-long workshop, Ben Wolf, a recognized Sphere Project trainer with Baptist Global Response (BGR), will take participants through the Sphere Handbook, Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response, equipping them to enter into humanitarian crisis and lead the response efforts with globally acknowledged standards and methods. Participants will receive an official, internationally recognized BGR/Sphere Training Certificate upon successful completion of the workshop.

The Humanitarian Sectors that are covered during the training include, along with the Humanitarian Charter:

  • Minimum Standards in Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion
  • Minimum Standards for Food Security and Nutrition
  • Minimum Standards in Shelter, Settlement and Non-Food Items
  • Minimum Standards in Health Actions

Sphere training does not guarantee a role in disaster response or in BGR work. It does equip participants with the practical knowledge and certification needed to be considered for long-term disaster response. For more information on the Sphere Project, visit http://www.sphereproject.org/about/
