REQUEST FOR PRECEPTOR CME CREDIT
Starting in the fall of the 2017-18 academic year, CME credit will no longer be generated from student evaluations. To obtain CME hours, preceptors should read the following information and complete the form below. Requests for credit should be submitted within 30 days of the end of the each rotation cycle.
Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, and is currently seeking accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
Preceptors are eligible for up to 160 AOA CME Category 1-B credits per four-week rotation (40 hours per week). LUCOM will report CME hours for DOs to the AOA within 60 days after the completion of each cycle.
- Preceptors should submit one form per rotation. Multiple students can be listed on each form.
- Credit for preceptoring is award on an hourly basis, not to exceed 40 hours per week. For example, a preceptor who works with a student-doctor for two weeks out of the four-week rotation is eligible for up to 80 credit hours. However, if student-doctors spend time with more than one physician during a four-week rotation, the total combined hours for each physician should not be greater than 160.
- Please note that credit hours are not multiplied based on the number of students. A physician who works with three students for the four-week rotation will receive the maximum 160 hours.
- CME certificates will be emailed to the physician once the required student evaluation has been submitted in E*Value.
